Tamir and our Community Service Partners

Tamir has built a large base of partnering agencies and organizations over the years to ensure that the individuals we support receive professional, responsive and complete services. Without the partners listed below, Tamir would not be able to provide all of the services that we do.

Tamir is a transfer payment agency, operating in partnership with the Ministry of Community and Social Services (MCSS). Tamir is mandated to follow ministry policies and procedures and operates under the Developmental Services Act, which is Ontario Provincial legislation. Service Coordination is the central point of access for all individuals interested in receiving ministry funded supports through agencies such as Tamir. Service Coordination does intake on each individual and assesses their range and criticality of need. They provide information on agencies providing supports in the Ottawa area and help individuals and their families connect with contact people at those agencies to learn more about the services they can provide. Tamir works together with Ottawa Children's Treatment Centre (OCTC) to help support individuals who require assistance with positive behaviour management. Behaviour programs are individualized and staff from both OCTC and Tamir work closely to ensure the individual is supported in a positive and consistent manner. Tamir is pleased to be active with the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) and hosts a Dual Diagnosis Clinic twice a month for Tamir participants who have been dually diagnosed with both a developmental disability as well as a mental illness. More than 14 Tamir participants have benefited from this specialized service since the Clinic began in 2006. For more information on CMHA and the services they provide, click here.

Referral Services

Tamir accesses health and wellness professionals such as physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language specialists, dieticians, nutritionists and many medical specialists in order to ensure that the needs of those we serve are fully met.
