Tamir offers a variety of services in response to community need, including:
Group Living: Tamir group homes offer individuals with developmental disabilities an opportunity to live with peers in a warm, inviting home environment. Support is provided up to 24 hours per day, 7 days a week, accoding to individual need.
Supported Independent Living/Outreach Programs: Assistance is available through this program to individuals who are semi-independent. Whether living in their own homes or in Tamir housing, participants may receive up to 35 hours of support a week, according to individual need, to help each person live as independently as possible.
Time Share Accommodations: Tamir's Time Share program serves as a respite for family caregivers and a new living and learning experience for participants. One-month stays are offered on a rotational basis, averaging three times per year.
Day Services: Tamir's Passages Program helps individuals obtain employment, educational and recreational options that are best suited to their skills, interests and needs. The focus of this program is community based work/volunteer and leisure activities, and is intended to ease the transition from school to meaningful community involvement.
Located on the Jewish Community Campus of Ottawa, Tamir's day program offers a variety of recreational and leisure activities, life skills development and volunteer opportunities to its participants.
Judaic Outreach: Designed to assist people with developmental and other disabilities to learn about, practice and celebrate Jewish life. Activities appeal to a wide range of interests and include Judaic Studies classes, Community Shabbat dinners, holiday celebrations, the Tamir Neshama Choir, Bar/Bat Mitzvah Programs and more.
